Irish and Dutch join forces to lead the way in international Gender Balanced Leadership

PWN Global, the leading global network of professionals accelerating gender balanced leadership in business have elected co-presidents Carina Furlong (Kilkenny, Ireland) and Sheila Gemin ( Amsterdam, Netherlands) . 

This international duo has been elected by their fellow city network presidents to serve on the Board of PWN Global as co-Presidents for an initial term of two years.   Timing is perfect as PWN Global launches its inaugural Gender Balanced Leadership Awards that will take place on 10th October 2019 in the renowned 5* Intercontinental Hotel in Dublin, Ireland. This international networking event will bring together 450 gender balance thought leaders to celebrate those who are trailblazing best practice in gender balanced leadership, around the world. The event will be opened by honorary guest, Julie Sinnamon, CEO of Enterprise Ireland and emcee for the night is news journalist with RTE, Jackie Fox. Just like our newly elected co-Presidents, both women have a proven track record in advocating for gender balanced leadership throughout their respective careers.

Carina Furlong, Co-President, PWN Global Co-President Carina Furlong is an Executive Coach and Leadership Development Consultant working with global clients to support the progression of their inclusion and diversity; working parents; and, female leadership development agendas. Carina is a regular contributor to national and global panel discussions on the themes of progressing female talent and balanced leadership. She is fully committed to influencing thought leadership in all of these important areas. Carina is the Managing Director with Talking Talent, an award-winning, global coaching consultancy helping to create inclusive cultures that attract, retain and engage women, men and working parents, and measurably improve business performance.

Sheila Gemin, Co-President, PWN Global Co-President Sheila Gemin is a Dutch entrepreneur, technical engineer and an educator on the topic of leadership in the digital context. Having started out in the field of technology with an international consulting firm, she has over 15 years’ experience in leadership development, management and board leadership. Sheila is the founder of The Cycling Academy, a Dutch institute bringing together science and amateur sport, which is now a recognised centre for thought leadership within the Netherlands athletic community. Sheila is a ferocious advocate for women in tech. 

An employee of ATOS, global leaders in digital transformation, Sheila says “Studies examining the impact of women in the workplace, specifically women collaborating on teams and in leadership roles, demonstrates the need for and impact of having more women in technology. Greater gender diversity in technology can impact businesses’ bottom lines.
